About the Photographers

Kari Sheppard

Kari Sheppard

For Kari, photography started out as a hobby and expanded to a passion. While a staff photographer for the college yearbook and newspaper, she learned a journalistic style. As a parent, and with the guidance of her mentor, Rob Moorman, she is learning about portrait and studio photography.

Beyond her formal training, Kari has a vision of what she wants to capture and share through her photography. Whether it is the eye of a tree frog, the beauty of a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis or a panorama of a mountain range, she invites you to share her view of the world.

Nils Sheppard

Nils Sheppard

Nils is our photographer in training. At the age of 12, he attached himself to a Nikon D50 camera and any lens he can borrow from mom. (But he would really like to use the macro lens today.)

Nils' interest in nature, animals and insects fuels his exploration of photographic techniques. He is currently taking classes with Rob Moorman and learning how to fully utilize the features of the camera.

"The Gator Coming" is his first photo to win an award in competition in the 26th Annual Photography Contest at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. He also participated in Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk Day 2008.
